Hello everybody!
Well, I had a hugely tiring day yesterday. The pre-Diwali cleaning mission surely takes a while to end, isn't it?
Yesterday morning I got up with a plan to clean up my husband's and my clothes cupboard. And boy, did I clean up! The tools that I used were just cardboard boxes and bed-tables. Read on to know how!
My husband works full time, morning to night and I used to be in the same boat until very recently I quit and started being at home. With a one year old tagging along all day now, I have fun and sometimes get a bit overwhelmed too. With all the fast paced life my husband and I used to live by, our cupboards surely looked like a fast paced hurricane had passed through it. But by the end of it all, it looked great and I was thoroughly satisfied.
So what are my take away and organisation hacks from yesterday's experience? Here it is:
With just one shelf and a hanging rod, I had next to nothing to call as a organising tool or proper space for all the items. So, an organising hack that I used was BED-TABLES!! Yes. You read it right. We never used them anyway. So, I placed two bed-tables next to each other to give a make-do shelf to further organise my clothes. That itself made it so much easier to sort clothes like what I wear at home and what I would wear outside when I would go shopping, etc.
Next came the denims, and don't we all love our denims and tend to go overboard while shopping for them. So, the next hack - I took an empty cardboard box I had lying around. I then folded each pair as you would when hanging on a hanger. Next step was to roll them from the waist band side and moving downwards. Then, I made the roll stand in the cardboard box. This was done for all my denims. By the end of it, I had all the jeans separately rolled into one box. This way, it didn't take any extra space and instead of ruining a pile of clothes every-time I would have taken a pair out, I had a neat box arrangement, which would never get disturbed as each pair of denims had their own space now. The same thing was done for my husband's jeans, my cotton dupattas, jersey churidars and track pants. Of course, I didn't stuff so many boxes in my cupboard. Things got clubbed as per how they were to be used.
So, this was a snapshot of the whole clothes organising project I undertook yesterday.
Hope it helps you too.
Do write in to tell me your organising hacks too. I would love to hear from my fellow organising divas and dudes too!
Until next time. Ciao <3
